DJ Tasks & Responsibilities

TLDR: As a DJ, you are responsible for Latino Open Dancing and the minor logistics that come with it for that evening. 

The default location for LOD is HXE (Hönggerberg). If it is in the Alumni Pavilion (Zentrum) c.f. https://wiki.tanzquotient.org/open-dancing.

  1.  Getting keys 🔑 
    1. During the semester there may already be a dance class beforehand. In that case, ask the teachers what the code is.
    2. Otherwise, you need to pick up the keys at the VSETH-office.
      1. The keys are placed in a vault at the VSETH-office entry at Hönggerberg (https://maps.app.goo.gl/SGtX1HegvFLr6VkX6).

                               

      1. TQ will send you a code to open a specific compartment. If you make a mistake while entering the code, press [*] to delete. Make sure to close the vaults doors again after getting the key.
      2. ⚠️ The use of the code is only allowed for the purpose of the event. Do not share the code with other people!
  1. Play music! 🎶
    1. Bring your own device that supports Bluetooth (e.g. phone)
    2. TQ has its own mobile music boxes to use
      1. When you come out of the staircase, you will find them in grey boxes labelled with "TQ" in the back right corner.
      2. The box is secured with a lock, TQ will provide you with the code for it
      3. To verify the code, press the button in the loop.
    3. Create a playlist
      1. Order of Dances
        1. The playlist should contain 50% salsa, 30% bachata and 20% other (e.g. Kizomba, Merengue, Cha-Cha-Cha).
        2. Make sure to use songs with different speeds (slow, medium, fast). 
        3. Feel free to adjust the playlist to the audience.
        4. Song wishes are encouraged! So be open to play those.

  2. Preparation of the room 🧹
    1. Hang up the awareness posters outside the room, on the wall between the door and the stairs. You can find them in the music box.
    2. As you're also the awareness contact person, wear the red TQ-shirt.
  3. Close the windows and doors at 10pm 🪟 💤
    1. ⚠️ Close all windows and doors towards the Student Housing (HWO/HWW-side) permanently after 10 pm!
    2. ⚠️ Also no people on the HWO/HWW-side outside after 10pm!
    3. Catching fresh air or smoking is only allowed on the HIL-side after 10pm.
  4. At the end  🏁
    1. Take down the awareness posters and store them in the music box.
    2. Make sure that the room is clean and orderly
      1. roll up all cables
      2. put the music box back into the grey box and close the lock
      3. if used, chairs and tables back on the stacks
      4. if necessary, use a broom to clean
    3. Dispose of the waste
      1. PET and Alu in the bag into the proper containers under the stairs outside
      2. The Garbage into the barrels on the wall outside
    4. If someone forgot some items (e.g. dance shoes), put them in front of the room.
    5. Turn off the lights. 💡
  5. Returning keys 🔑 
    1. Return the keys to the vault (cf. "Getting keys")
    2. Use the same code as mentioned above or if you did not get the key yourself use the code, that was given to those, who picked up the key.
